:Dotrix Modular
Introduce a :Dotrix Modular digital printing process to your packaging or POP & display business and you will save money while significantly reducing the time to market. The :Dotrix Modular gives you endless creative options for short and medium sized runs where you can add high variable data (versioning) and customisation adding value to your end product. And at the same time - free your offset and flexo-presses for what they were built for – longer print runs.
Key benefits
- The modularity concept: UV flexo printing stations (coating or varnishing), Slitting, Die cutting, Sheeter installation
- Linear speed up to 32m/min
- Unique 63 cm printing width
- Wide variety of substrates ranging from flexible foils, 20 micron over self-adhesives, to folding carton up to 600 micron
- Very accurate reproduction of full colour and spot colour images
- Dedicated :Agorix UV curable inks
- Variable data printing (versioning) and customization
- Compatible with existing workflows
- Double sided printing possible
Versatility and productivity
The versatile :Dotrix press, with its unique printing width of 63cm, is the most productive UV single pass printing press of the industry. :Dotrix is also the only digital press that is able to print with high production capacity on a wide variety of substrates ranging from flexible foils, 20 micron over self-adhesives, to folding carton up to 600 micron. And importantly, with its modular construction, traditional UV flexo printing stations that can serve as coating and varnishing alleys, can be added to the roll-to-roll basic configuration. Slitting and die cutting as well as sheeter installations can also be integrated to complete the system and ensure it is fully tuned to your operation's needs.

Substrate input
The jumbo unwind (and rewind) system of the :Dotrix Modular can handle rolls of up to 1250 mm (49") diameter, weighing up to 800 kg (1750 pound) providing long uninterrupted print runs.

The heart of the matter - SPICE printing unit
The combination of its width and high speed greyscale inkjet heads makes the :Dotrix the most productive digital colour press for industrial applications. Because of this impressive productivity, relatively large runs can still be produced cost effectively without compromising on the unique features of digital printing like no make-ready, no set-up time between jobs and less waste during start-up.
- UV-curable CMYK ink set
- Double lamp UV-curing system with Nitrogen
- Printing width = 63 cm (24.8")
- Linear speed = 32 meter (105 ft)/min
- Substrate thickness = 0.025 to 0.6 mm (1..24 point) range (substrate dependent)
- Corona surface treatment
- Web cleaning: contact and contact-less

Traditional meets Digital, the best of both worlds
Traditional flexographic printing stations can be integrated in-line.
- A flexo printing station before the SPICE, could serve as a coating/priming pass if you are to print on difficult standard substrates. This will highly increase the print quality. Mounting a tradional flexo plate gives endless combinations of flexo white or spot colours with digital printing on top.
- An integrated flexo printing station after SPICE could lay down a top-finishing lacquer, giving your end product that high-quality finishing touch.

Inline after-(or post) processing for higher efficiency and productivity
- Slitting and die-cutting can be installed to make the :Dotrix Modular engine one integrated industrial printing press.
- A fully integrated sheet cutting solution, running in line is designed to cut variable length sheets that will be delivered onto a shingle delivery table. Options to run from delivery table into high pile stacker or to run roll to roll are available.

These post finishing installations eliminate further off-line production stages enhancing the productivity of your business.
Accurate and reproducible colour
The :Dotrix Modular handles the incoming files from either :ApogeeX or 3rd party pre-press systems. The unique colour management system ensures very accurate reproduction of full colour and spot colour images with our own :Agorix CMYK UV-curable inks.
Substrate specific settings can be saved and re-used to further minimize the set-up time in case of a substrate change-over. Furthermore screening type and dot gain compensation curves can be changed at run-time to perfectly match different printing conditions.
Vibe integration
:Apogee Vibe is a workflow software which adds variable data elements to an existing PDF file and is specifically tailored to Packaging and POP markets. The variable data elements are produced only at the very last moment of the printing process, which drastically reduces pre-press time when generating the variable data and keeps RIP time and data to the absolute minimum. Add value to your output with no loss of productivity.
Easy Substrate switch
Switching from one substrate to another is done in a few minutes with the easy-to-use splicing tool. Even changing from a smaller to a larger web width requires no extra manipulation at the press at all.
Easy ink refill
To maximize uptime, ink can be refilled during printing in the external ink supply system.
