The large printing format combined with the use of UV varnish and optional spot varnishing allows Industriedruck Dresden to serve a variety of customers from publishers, industry and the communications sector. The product portfolio mainly consists of catalogues, brochures, magazines, envelopes and packaging. Regular and systematic investments and certifications such as FSC, PSO, Fogra and ISO have proved their worth as future-oriented business strategies.

The printing plate production is also state of the art with 2 Agfa platesetters,:Avalon N8-22 S and :Avalon N16-50E.

In order to support the various printing applications, e.g. UV applications, both :Amigo TS and :Energy Elite printing plates are imaged on these platesetters.

Industriedruck dresden SR1Industriedruck Dresden has been using Agfa's prepress workflow for approx. 10 years. With :Apogee PrePress 7.1 it has installed the latest version, which proves to be indispensable in production. The extremely high level of automation not only greatly facilitates daily operations, but also reduces potential error sources to a minimum. Steffen Rossberg, Prepress Manager of Industriedruck Dresden: "Automation has dramatically increased our production speed, enabling us to cost-effectively manage the continuously increasing job throughput". The straightforward handling of production parameters in logical workflows particularly simplifies the production of extensive brochures. Thanks to the predefined workflows, problems as may be encountered e.g. in overprinting, belong to the past.

Rule-based imposition

The successful and systematic automation was taken to an even higher level when the :Apogee workflow with the integrated rule-based :Apogee Impose function was introduced. The previously used imposition program was soon abandoned and replaced by :Apogee Impose for all print jobs. Outstanding features include the logical product definition using variables and the automatic and highly flexible branding.
This is particularly noticeable when changes in production are required, which occurs almost daily. Printing machine and paper format are two parameters that often need to be changed at short notice, and with :Apogee Impose this can be done directly in the production schedule.

Industriedruck dresden SR2This high flexibility in the prepress stage allows for more cost-effective use of the high performance printing machines. The previously mentioned branding with predefined rules avoids errors such as wrongly placed marks. The print control strips are automatically adapted for the relevant printing machine on the basis of the job coloring for the different sheet sizes.

Language versions in production

In combination with "versioning", the "Impose" advantages can also be enjoyed with multilingual jobs, where as a rule only the black plate needs to be changed. In the :Apogee workflow, the language versions are clearly displayed as a configuration plan of the printing plates and can be checked both in the screen preview and and in the printout.
To enable Industriedruck Dresden to maintain its high level production quality, close and competent support from Agfa Sales and Agfa Support is vital. :APOGEEnetwork, a website for :Apogee users, with the associated :Apogee user forum for exchange of information with other :Apogee users, serves as an informative supplement to the support.
