PrintSphere Windows desktop application v2

A new version of the PrintSphere desktop application for Windows will be available from 17 May 2017. This application is used to automatically synchronize folders on printsphere.com with your local computer or workflow system.

What’s new?

The new desktop application allows users to simultaneously connect to multiple PrintSphere accounts. This can be handy for creative agencies who work with multiple printers that each use PrintSphere. The agency can configure the desktop client so that files they drop in one folder are sent to the PrintSphere account of one printing company, while files dropped in another folder automatically go to the other printer. To add a second connection to a different PrintSphere account open the Windows desktop application, click the ‘Account’ button and select ‘Add new’.

In the Advanced settings in the ‘General’ tab, users can define that certain file types don’t need to be synchronized. A notification can warn them if folders that will be downloaded exceed a certain size.

Version 2 of the Windows desktop application also provides a more elaborate activity report. Separate tabs in the ‘Activity’ view show server activity, which files were synchronized and which failed.

After a system reboot the previous release of the desktop application sometimes failed to start automatically. This has been fixed.

How to upgrade

Any installation of the Windows desktop application that takes place after 16 May will automatically make use of the new version.

We recommend that existing users who have the PC desktop application installed on their Apogee or Asanti workflow system, or on other systems, upgrade to the new version. This is possible from 17 May onwards. To upgrade you need to open the PrintSphere PC client, go to the ‘General’ tab and click the ‘Upgrade’ button. The new version will automatically be downloaded, installed and started. All the existing settings will be reused. The entire process takes just a few minutes.
